Head of Real Estate Equity Strategies

Mark Wilsmann is head of equity strategies for MetLife Investment Management’s (MIM) Real Estate group. Named to this role in 2012 in conjunction with MetLife’s launch of its real estate asset management business, Wilsmann is responsible for leading MIM’s direct property investment platform, investing on behalf of the MetLife general account as well as institutional investors including public and private pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and insurance companies.

Between 2003 and 2012, Wilsmann led MetLife’s commercial mortgage lending business, directing product design, pricing, and origination activities and chairing the investment committee. Under his leadership, MetLife became recognized as the top life company lender, with volume averaging more than $10 billion annually.

During his real estate career with MetLife, Wilsmann held roles in asset management, acquisitions, loan production, portfolio management, regional operations, and merger integration. He served on the board of directors of the Mortgage Bankers Association and the leadership of the Commercial Mortgage Board of Governors of the MBA. He is a trustee of the Urban Land Institute and an Industrial/Office council chair, and is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association, the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, and the Capital Markets Committee of the Real Estate Roundtable.

Wilsmann holds a Bachelor of Arts and MBA from Wake Forest University.
