Geert Henckens

Global Head of Private Fixed Income

Geert Henckens is Global Head of Private Fixed Income for MetLife Investment Management (MIM) and is responsible for leading teams that originate and manage a broad array of private asset investments that aim to offer clients attractive relative value, portfolio diversification and potential risk mitigation. MIM’s total private fixed income assets under management are in excess of $150 billion and include private investment grade corporate credit, infrastructure debt, asset-based finance (ABF), middle market direct lending, residential whole loan investment and securitization, alternative investments, workouts and sustainable investment strategies. Geert was appointed Global Head of Investment Grade Private Credit in 2023. He joined MIM’s EMEA corporate private placement team in 2014 and managed this group from 2020 until 2023.

During a 30-year career in financial markets, Geert has covered various roles and positions across different markets, including as equities and fixed income portfolio manager. Prior to joining MIM, he worked at KBC Bank in London where he was responsible for arranging and underwriting syndicated loans on a global basis. He started his professional career as a research assistant at the Catholic University of Leuven.

Geert graduated cum laude with a Master of Applied Economics degree from the Catholic University of Leuven.
